Welcome to the Vocal Academy at the Collaborative Piano Institute!

Please refer to the CPI Online page to see specific information about the 2020 online edition.

May 31st – June 20th, 2020

If you are a singer who would like to work with some of the best Vocal Coaches in the field (Martin Katz, Kathleen Kelly, Christopher Turbessi, and more), as well as nationally-recognized voice faculty (Lisette Oropesa, Paul Groves, Korliss Uecker, Timothy Jones, Sandra Moon, Loraine Sims, and more) the Vocal Academy is for you! Since there is a limited number of openings, participants will receive continuous personal attention and instruction unparalleled by many summer music programs.

You will have the option to create your own summer project: role preparation (voice lessons and coachings), scenes, an entire song cycle, recital preparation, intermediate or advanced diction training, pre-screening recordings, and more!

You will work with pianists in lessons, masterclasses and recitals; receive recordings of all these activities, and participate in lectures that discuss:

  • How to learn music more efficiently
  • The singer and pianist collaboration
  • Recital programming and preparation
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Time management
  • Musical style and interpretation
  • Audition preparation for graduate school, summer festivals, and Young Artist Programs
  • Vocal coaching and score preparation
  • Language and diction
  • The singer in the chamber music ensemble
  • Working with and as a conductor
  • Opportunity to record prescreening video and audio

In addition to daily rehearsals, the singers will participate in as many as 25 classes and lectures, 12-15 coachings, 10 masterclasses and at least 4 recitals on average.
